	Answer 2 Famciclovir. Antiviral medications such as famciclovir are not helpful 10 days after the onset of herpes zoster rash. Opiate analgesics, amitriptyline, topical lidocaine, and gabapentin provide relief of neuropathic zoster pain in this situation. Click here to return to the questions
