Adenomyosis is likely to cause an enlarged uterus without palpable uterine surface nodules. An ovarian tumor will be detected as a palpable adnexal mass. Advanced cases of cervical cancer will cause a mass protruding in the vagina. Fortunately, the widespread use of the Pap smear as a cancer screening modality has reduced the incidence of advanced cervical cancer.
